La Mesa Chef's Table

Host a supper club. We'll cook it. You invite your people — Chef Mark Ramirez cooks a 7-course chef's dinner in your home, same day, right in your kitchen. Your guests sit down to a restaurant that only exists for one night, at your table.

How it works here

One host pays. Guests are guests.

This is not a restaurant pop-up and not a ticketed event. The host books and pays for the evening — guests are invited by the host and pay nothing. Nothing is ever sold at the table.

1

Host inquiry

Reach out with a date and rough headcount — a two-minute form or a call/text to (760) 983-6498.

2

Planning call

Fifteen minutes with Chef Mark: the occasion, your guests, the vibe, dietary needs, your kitchen setup.

3

Menu design

Mark builds a 7-course progression around your occasion. You approve it — nothing is a surprise to you.

4

Your invitations

You invite your guests your way. You own the guest list — we handle everything else.

5

The night

Mark arrives, sets up, cooks, serves, and cleans the kitchen. You host. Your guests remember it.

6

Follow-up

A thank-you note for your guests, and first priority on your next date.

Three ways to host

Pick the table that fits the night.

Groceries are billed at cost and stated separately. Tuesday–Thursday evenings receive a 10% courtesy incentive.

La Mesa Íntima — $165/guest

8–12 guests · ~3 hours. One long table, family-style pacing, the chef in the room.

La Mesa Grande — $155/guest

13–18 guests · ~3.5 hours. Plated courses, two servers, full dining-room rhythm.

La Mesa Fiesta — $145/guest

19–24 guests · ~4 hours. Stations plus plated mains, celebration energy.

Sample progressions

Seven courses, built for your night.

Course names and one-line sketches — the full menu is designed with you at menu approval.

The Chefecito's Table

Signature, Latin-rooted: a bright opening bite · day-boat crudo with citrus and chile · a short, deep broth · a fire-kissed course of smoke and char · the centerpiece protein · dessert with a Latin soul · coffee service with a small sweet to close.

Steakhouse After Dark

Chilled raw-bar opening · a composed wedge salad with real intent · a rich bisque interlude · dry-aged or prime cut carved to order · an elevated sides parade · dark chocolate and salt · one last nightcap bite with coffee.

Coast to Coast

Seafood-forward: oyster and citrus to open · pristine crudo, minimal and confident · a clear aromatic seafood broth · seared fish with texture and contrast · the big catch, presented tableside · bright citrus dessert · petit fours with coffee.

Every progression ships with a by-the-course wine guidance sheet — what styles to buy and how many bottles. A full sommelier wine pairing is available as an upsell.

Good to know

Questions, answered.

Do my guests pay anything?

No. You pay for the evening; your guests are your guests. Nothing is sold at the table — no tickets, no cash bar, no upsells to your friends.

Where does it happen?

Your home, or a private venue you arrange. It must be private — not open to the public.

What do you need from my kitchen?

A working residential kitchen: oven, stovetop, sink, counter space, and refrigerator space cleared for the day. Chef Mark confirms fit on the planning call. For La Mesa Fiesta (19–24), we'll talk through layout together.

Who cleans up?

We do. Full kitchen cleanup is included — you should end the night the way your guests do.

What about dietary restrictions and allergies?

Tell us at least 7 days ahead and every course adapts. Severe allergies get a dedicated briefing on the planning call. Raw-fish-free and vegetarian progressions are available.

Who provides alcohol?

You do — it's your party — with our guidance on what and how much to buy. Or add the sommelier wine-pairing upsell and it's handled.

Can it be a surprise party or anniversary?

Yes — some of the best ones are. We'll coordinate timing and secrecy with you directly.

How far ahead should I book?

Two to four weeks is comfortable; holidays book further out. Short notice is sometimes possible — ask.

Is a tip expected?

Never required. If the night earns it, gratuity is at your discretion.

When can I book?

The host list is open now; dates release once our final insurance is bound. Join the list for first pick of dates.

Start the conversation

Request to host.

Tell us about the night you want to host. This is an inquiry only — nothing is booked and nothing is charged until we've talked, you've approved the menu, and we've confirmed the date together. Chef Mark replies within one business day.
